As friends and family are off on their various summer travels I’ve been getting reports on some really fun star sightings One friend in Arizona, another friend on Kiawah Island, another friend in Italy, and so on. Funny thing is though, it doesn’t really faze me. Since the long lost days of staring at the pages of Teen Beat circa 1983 and wishing C. Thomas Howell would be my boyfriend, I’ve never really been star struck. Half the time I don’t even recognize stars. (I hear you all gasping by the way!)
But recently a friend sent me a photo of her with a true celeb in my opinion. I’ve always been more in awe of celebrity chefs. I’m sure you all think I’m crazy, but it’s true. I would be over the top, unable to breathe if Ina Garten asked me to spend the weekend with her at her amazing East Hampton home or if I received an invitation from Thomas Keller to dine with him at Per Se or French Laundry. My sweet friend thought she was sending me a little treat! The backstory is that we had dinner together about a year ago at one of my absolutely favorite restaurants in San Francisco, The Wayfare Tavern. If you haven’t been – GO! Whether you live in the Bay Area or plan on visiting, put this restaurant on your foodie bucket list. Not only is the food amazing (more on that in a sec), but the restaurant itself is so cool. The decor is beautiful right down to every last incredible detail.
The food is amazing! The BEST hamburger you will ever have in your entire life! Sweet A and I have been talking and dreaming about this burger ever since! Imagine a burger so juicy and lovely, but it’s more, a thick slab of brie, layers and layers of bacon, and a perfect fried egg!! yes, it’s also a heart attack on a plate, but a girls gotta live!
I was of course thrilled when news of Tyler Florence’s move to Mill Valley from NYC came my way. His Wayfare Tavern restaurant is top notch. Don’t think for a minute when we were there that I wasn’t looking for him. I mean, after Ina Garten and Thomas Keller send me invites, Tyler Florence will surely follow suit. right?
