Our family loves all sorts of smoothies. We make protein smoothies, green smoothies, fruit smoothies, and ‘dessert’ smoothies. Friends always ask me for the recipes for my smoothies, but truthfully, I don’t use any. So for the sake of making things easier on you all, I’ve included some of our favorite combos here for you to try. The best part of smoothie making is being able to play with the combinations based on what you feel like (and what’s in the fridge!) I typically use my Vitamix for all juices, smoothies, soups, and sauces. This baby is a work horse! I l.o.v.e. my Vitamix.

Green Smoothie
1 english cucumber, peeled, seeded, rough chop
2 c. kale, washed
1 apple (use a sweeter one like a fuji), cored and quartered
1/2 c. water or coconut water

Carrot Smoothie
3 large carrots, peeled and halved
2 stalks celery, washed and halved
1/2 c. fresh orange juice
juice of one lemon

Fruit Smoothies
strawberry + banana
blueberry + peach
pineapple + mango
each of these will also have
1/2 c. greek yogurt and ice (unless you are using frozen fruit)
for a sweeter smoothie, you can add a drop of honey or stevia

Protein Smoothie
1 scoop whey protein powder
1/2 c. greek yogurt
1/2 c. almond milk
1 banana (or any fruit you like)

variations
1 tsp. flax seed
1 tsp. chia seed
honey
almond milk
coconut water
orange juice

My kids love any smoothie with a dollop of whipped cream and a bendy straw! If you have a piece of fresh fruit leftover add it to the edge of the glass – WOW – made their day! Simply delicious.
