We had a little birthday party for my middle daughter immediately after returning from two weeks in Europe. Needless to say, I knew there would be no time for mom’s typical creations and hired some help for the first time for one of my kids’ birthday parties. We’ve had fairy parties, baseball parties (x2), swim parties, Star Wars parties and more, but this year was going to be different. What I didn’t know was that it was going to be better!
We enlisted the help of our school’s amazing art teacher, Mr. Almquist. He is not only a terrific art teacher, but a profession photographer and artist. My kids couldn’t have been more excited and when the girls all arrived at our home art studio, it was almost as if a star had been sighted, “Mr. A is HERE?!” He provided all the materials for a fantastic art party for my neawly turned 8 year old and a few of her friends, big brother and little sis too.
The girls played in our backyard, had an art lesson where they created big bright beautiful paintings of birthday cakes, had dinner and birthday cake made by me. (I always make their cakes, it’s our birthday thing.) I have never been so relaxed and enjoyed one of my kids’ parties so much!
In addition to giving the girls a unique art lesson, Jayd also took some outstanding photographs which truly captured my family, the birthday girl and some of my daughter’s sweet friends. Memories we’ll have forever. Thank you Jayd Almquist Photography.
