Here’s my first stab at a Book Review.  Hope you enjoy it!

Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo was repeatedly recommended to me.  I figured it was about time to see what it was all about.  This book is a quick easy read, but leaves a lot of food for thought.  You can read it in a weekend.  Don’t let that fool you though.  You may be like me, where it sits with you for a while.  To summarize briefly, this story is about a family who begins to realize that their 3 year old son has had a beautiful brief trip to heaven.  It is sweetly retold by the father, Todd Burpo who is a pastor at his local church in rural Nebraska.  Todd not only retells the events, but intertwines them with biblical references to help him and his wife connect the dots from their son’s recounts of his time in heaven to what the bible tells us about heaven.  You may particularly enjoy this book if you’ve ever lost a loved one, suffered from a miscarriage, or wondered what life will be like after we leave this earth.  I’d recommend it for a Book Club as having a close group to discuss the content with would be a welcome follow up.

What are you reading this summer?

I agree! This is an inspiring read! There is also an abbreviated kid-friendly version of this story. You will be surprised at the depth of thinking from your little ones. I have given this book to several loved ones and it touches each individual in a different way. Thumbs up from us!
