This was one of those perfect nights, in a perfectly beautiful place, with good friends and an incredible farm to table meal that could only be made possible by Mother Earth.
Outstanding in the Field “re-connect[s] diners to the land and the origins of their food,
and honor[s] the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it.
We had the honor of being part of one of their amazing dinning experiences recently. Outstanding in the Field is the best in local food, farmers, and the beauty from which they all originate. They rove around, literally taking their restaurant on the road. Traveling to hilltops, beaches, vineyards, or gardens to showcase local farm fresh food prepared by regional chefs renowned in the localvore movement.
Our dinner started out in the small Northern Marin county town of Nicasio. We were shuttled to the breathtaking and expansive home of Devil’s Gulch Ranch. Upon arriving we were greeted with crisp cool glasses of white wine, appetizers that were as equally artistic as they were delicious, and a view that went on for miles around us.
Afterwards we were lead on a tour of their ranch including the vineyards and some of the farm friends.
And on to the main event, dinner. A long 90 person table set in between rows and rows of pinot grigio vines was as stunning as I imagined.
Thank you to the gracious hosts at Devil’s Gulch Ranch, all the amazing people with Outstanding in the Field, and the talented chefs that showed us what farm to table truly means. We all had an outstanding evening, blessed to have been a part of it.
