When it occurred to me a few days ago that I didn’t have a pic for this month’s Just Us post, something wonderful happened. Rather than becoming stressed to fit it in, I was relieved. This had been such a busy month. Between my travel to New York, my husband’s travel, and the countless other items on that never-ending list, all 5 of us weren’t even in the same place at the same time much this month! I found that having this project ‘due’ required me to stop some of the madness, say ‘no’ to everything on our calendars for an afternoon and slow down with the people I love most, Just Us. Here I am already in September, grateful with equal measure for the opportunity to document a few of our just us moments as I am grateful to take pause and relish in them. And that is exactly what happened today.
We are still having such lovely warm weather here in Northern CA. We spent a lot of the day in my in-laws backyard swimming and playing. We all laid down on the warm ground after the swim to dry off. It was so sweet, we each lay there with our heads on our hands folded into little pillows. The eyes of my littles so close to mine, I could see myself in them. That’s when I realized this was our moment.
The warm sun, warm ground, and all my loves close to me soaking it all in too. Our cool skin being warmed by the sun as it slides down the sky into fall. That my friends, was the last hurrah of summer.
