En Papillote literally translated means “in parcel.” It is a French cooking method by which the fish is cooked in parchment paper wrapped up like a little parcel or like my kids say “our own little packages!” It is such a easy simple way to cook that we do it often. It is also an incredibly healthful way to eat.
There really isn’t a recipe for this one. You can truly use any fish you like and whatever veggies you have on hand that your family enjoys. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and cook for about 20 minutes (varies slightly depending on the size and weight of your fish).
Of course as I was getting all ready to prepare this dish for my family {and photograph for you all} it occurred to me that I was out of parchment paper! Doesn’t it always work that way?! But now I can share this great product I recently found. These pre-cut parchment sheets, while not so great for wrapping up fish, are fantastic for lining cookie sheets, brownie pans, cake pans, etc for such an easy clean up! They saved me in a pinch this time, but I wouldn’t recommend for this meal.
Here’s what went into our packages recently. Talapia fillets, sliced tomatoes, sliced onion, sliced bell pepper, + Broccoli Slaw.
This was a new addition. I thought it would cook easily and add a nice texture to the meal.
I typically place the onion and tomatoes on the bottom, S + P on top of the fish, then add the rest of the veggies.
Drizzle with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a squeeze of lemon.
Wrap up your little packages and bake @ 400 for about 20-25 minutes.
I served over a bed of rice pilaf, you don’t really need to. Each package is a meal in itself. My kiddos happen to love a good boxed pilaf! Enjoy!
