A Bowl Full of Simple | Christmas Tree Hunting

Quite possibly my favorite day of the year.  It rivals swimming in the ocean and snuggling my littles at bedtime. Hunting for our Christmas tree feels that good.  We load everyone up, bring along hot cocoa and often a picnic and head for the hills.  My husband and I have been doing this ever since he and I became a “we.”  We’ll likely still be Christmas tree hunting long after our children are grown and gone.

I love the stories in our family where everyone is filling their parts.  The stories I can hear them telling around the table when they come home from college or are married with children of their own.  Tales about how mom always makes everyone walk too far to find the right one.  How dad suggests at minimum, 10 options that of course are never ‘the’ one.  How my middle always complains about too much hiking or being too cold or too warm without fail.  Remembering the 13 times we had our beloved Jake with us with his tail wagging with delight.  Those are the stories I keep in mind when sibling bickering ensues, I want to cry that it’s not perfect, or my oldest gets carsick – again.  They may remember those moments too, those may just make the best tales of all.  Making memories my friends.  The stuff life is made of, Happy Hunting!
