Back to School Series – Lunchtime!

a bowl full of simple

Because I’ve been asked so many times about packing lunch for kids, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite products for lunchtime.  For several years, my kids have been using the bento boxes made by Laptop Lunches.  This company has a great product. There are now more and more “bento” lunch boxes on the market, but this one remains my favorite for a few reasons.  The containers all have lids that are easy for kids to remove themselves.  If you prefer not to use lids, no problem, the lid of the box contains everything right where it should!  {Unless of course you have yogurt or soup in there.}  Another reason I prefer these over any other bento is that they have eliminated the dividers in the box making it easier that ever to mix and match sizes depending on what’s on the menu that day. Mostly I choose these because they make everything inside look so darn appealing!  Who wouldn’t want to eat all these colorful fruits and veggies packed neatly in little compartments sized perfectly for little fingers?!

I am also a big fan of the Laptop Lunches because of their website.  Beyond selling products, you can browse menu ideas by the season, photos of lunches for a quick idea, and even subscribe to their RSS feed which will deliver fresh inspiring ideas directly to your inbox.  How great is that?!

*Laptop Lunches is giving one lucky reader a $25 gift certificate!*

What a great lunch box idea! I will be looking for these before my children head back to school. And the easy-off lids are so important – I am forever worrying about a lid-struggle-food-flying-everywhere moment!

I’ve been looking for something just like this. I hate my other bento because what I am packing doesn’t always fit into their sizes/configurations. I would buy the bento kit for sure!

I LOVE Laptop Lunches!!! As a professional and single mom of two (16 year old girl and a 5 year old son), I’m always looking to save money, and get the kids to eat healthy.

My daughter is at the age now that she is looking at nutritional content, and these bento boxes make packing a healthy lunch a breeze (using the daily plate nutritional allowances)!

My son will be starting Kindergarten this year :'( and I refuse to buy the national brand of lunch packs with their nitrate/sodium laden treats. Also, since his school is peanut free, I have to be creative with my protein choices (he loves nuts). These boxes make it a breeze, and the colors are bright and cheery. I also want to put in decorative picks, and use cut outs for fun veggie and fruit shapes.

This is going to start a new tradition in my home.

I would like to win because I’d get a box for each of my kiddos, and start the school year off right!

I have been looking into purchasing a bento kit for quite some time and definitely would purchase the full set with a gift certificate!

I would purchase the Dual Compartment Kit – Plum Blossom! It’s my favorite colors and it’s great because it holds a bento in the bottom, but has room for drinks and a thermos on top! Plus it’s really a cure design!

Hi! How great about the giveaway! First let me say I love the clean fresh look of your blog and lunches. Second, if I won the gift certificate I would buy another 2.0 version of the Laptop Lunches. I have the old 1.0 version that I’d bought for my little girl five or six years ago, and just bought a 2.0 for my little boy. I didn’t realize that the sizes are slightly different and the parts not interchangeable! I’d like to have them both using the same version. The system is great–colorful, fun, and practical–and it would be fun to shop for some new colors for the matching 2.0 set! Thanks to you and LL for running the giveaway. :)
